Scenic Historic Spots in DPRK

Pyongyang, July 23 (KCNA) -- In Pyongyang, the capital city of the DPRK, there are many scenic historic spots showing the wisdom and talents of the Korean ancestors. Among them are the Taedong Gate, the Ryongwang Pavilion and the Pyongyang Bell Pavilion, which stand on a bank of the Taedong River flowing through the center of Pyongyang. The majestic and graceful Taedong Gate well shows the architecture of the talented and wise Korean ancestors. The rainbow-shaped gate, elaborately-built embankment, upper story above the gate, soft inclination of crane-shaped roof and others give the viewers stability and thrilled feelings. The Ryongwang Pavilion, adding beauty to the landscape of the banks of the River Taedong with a peculiar figure, has been regarded as one of the eight scenic spots in the northwestern part of Korea and a pride of Pyongyang. Very admirable is its peculiar architectural style of combining two buildings. Many historical relics had been destroyed by indiscriminate bombings of the U.S. imperialists during the Korean War. Those historical relics like the Taedong Gate were restored to their original state under the policy of the Workers' Party of Korea on the protection of the national heritage to hand down the wisdom and talents of the nation. |
