Pyongyang, July 25 (KCNA) -- With the 69th anniversary of the victory in the Fatherland Liberation War approaching, the people in the DPRK are more loudly singing the wartime songs that instill the spirit of defending the country and the revolution into their hearts. Those songs have reverberated at every theater of revolutionary struggle up to now from the days of the war. On receiving the news about aggression moves by the U.S. imperialists and the south Korean puppet forces in March Juche 39 (1950), creators produced "Song of National Defence" in reflection of all the people's confidence in victory and strong will to annihilate the enemy and safeguard the country. The song "Advance" is based on the vigor of the officers and men of the People's Army who created an unprecedented and unimaginable attacking speed in the human history of wars by liberating Seoul just three days after an immediate counterattack in the war and advancing to the south at an astonishing speed while defeating the aggressors. "To a Decisive Battle", one of the wartime songs first sung by the defenders of Height 1211, was produced at the request of soldiers who made up their minds to revenge the death of their commanding officer who blocked an enemy's pillbox with his chest. "Song of Coast Artillerymen" describes the coast artillerymen precisely opening fire on the enemies. "Song of Juvenile Guerrillas" sings of the struggle of the juvenile guerrillas in Kowon County, who turned out to defend their hometown with their surging hatred toward the U.S. imperialist aggressors. Popular with the people are "Off We Go, Brindled Ox" and other wartime songs depicting the features of the courageous Korean women who sent their beloved children and husbands to the front and the civilians behind the front who worked hard to assist the front. |
