When the war veterans arrived at the venue of the meeting, officials and members of the women's union warmly welcomed them with great applause and bouquets of flowers.

At the joint meeting, Kim Jong Sun, chairwoman of the Central Committee of the Socialist Women's Union of Korea (SWUK), made a congratulatory speech.

Extending deep gratitude to the war veterans out of the minds of all the members of the women's union, she stressed that the joint meeting would serve as an occasion of implanting the sense of mission of the descendants of the generation of war victors to carry forward the tradition of glorious victory generation after generation.

Put on the stage of the joint meeting were dance and chorus "July 27, Our Victory Day" and "Long Live Generalissimo Kim Il Sung" by the art squad of the C.C. of the SWUK and the art groups of the women's union.

Then followed the stories of war veterans Choe Yun Guk and Hong Sun Hwan who fought in the Guards 6th Infantry Division and the Andong 12th Infantry Division.

The story of brilliant exploits of the Guards units that stroke terror into the enemies at every battlefield, frustrating the large-scale "new offensive" of the U.S. imperialists, touched the heartstrings of the participants.

War veterans Kim Su Bok and Kim Juk Song said that the Korean women could bravely fight to the death as they realized through experience that the love for their parents and brothers, husbands and children is based on the love for the country.

The stage background showed the touching scenes of revolutionary opera and feature film that depicted the last moments of heroines An Yong Ae and Jo Sun Ok.

Officials and members of the women's union expressed the determination to become genuine women revolutionaries and ardent patriots who dedicate themselves to the prosperity and development of the big family of socialism by following the loyalty, revolutionary spirit, indomitable fighting spirit and noble traits of the defenders of the country in the 1950s.

A war veteran Kim Chol Hun requested all the women to cherish the intention of the Party and become cornerstone of supporting the country by carrying forward the beautiful family tradition and national customs.
