Participants in 8th National Conference of War Veterans Visit Martyrs Cemeteries

Pyongyang, July 28 (KCNA) -- The participants in the 8th National Conference of War Veterans visited the Revolutionary Martyrs Cemetery on Mt Taesong, the Patriotic Martyrs Cemetery in Sinmi-ri and the Fatherland Liberation War Martyrs Cemetery on July 27, the 69th anniversary of the great war victory, to pay tribute to their old commanding officers and comrades-in-arms who shared weal and woe in the flames of the war. Accompanying them were Kim Tok Hun, Pak Jong Chon and Ri Pyong Chol, members of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK), senior officials of the Party, government and armed forces organs, lecturers in the field of revolutionary history of war victory, students of revolutionary schools, service personnel, working people, youth and students. Wreaths in the name of the WPK Central Committee were laid at the Revolutionary Martyrs Cemetery on Mt Taesong, the Patriotic Martyrs Cemetery in Sinmi-ri and the Fatherland Liberation War Martyrs Cemetery. Also, placed at them were wreaths in the names of the participants in the Fatherland Liberation War. At the Revolutionary Martyrs Cemetery on Mt Taesong, war veterans laid flowers before the busts of anti-Japanese revolutionary fighters who are their old commanding officers. The war veterans paid a silent tribute in memory of the first generation of the revolution. They also visited the Patriotic Martyrs Cemetery in Sinmi-ri and the Fatherland Liberation War Martyrs Cemetery. At the wreath-laying stands, the visitors paid their homage to the martyrs who unhesitatingly dedicated their youthful lives for the Party and the leader, the country and the people. Tears of yearning ran down the wrinkled faces of war veterans calling out their unforgettable comrades-in-arms while stroking gravestones of the heroes. |
