Efforts Directed to Protection of Crops from Heat Damage
Pyongyang, August 1 (KCNA) -- Officials and working people in the agricultural sector of the DPRK are concentrating all efforts on protecting the crops from damage by fierce heat.

Officials of the Agricultural Commission and agricultural guidance organs in provinces, cities and counties have carried on the scrupulous organization and guidance over the work to cultivate the crops in a safe and healthy way under the persistent unfavorable weather conditions.

Efforts are directed to the irrigation to paddy fields across the country to ensure the smooth growth of rice.

Unchon, Anak and Jaeryong counties in South Hwanghae Province have striven to prevent the root rot of crops by enhancing the responsibility and role of water caretakers in farm fields and areas with risk of damage from high temperature.

Hanggu and Kangso districts in Nampho City actively introduced the effective watering methods suitable for the smooth progress of earing.

Also, big efforts are put into the work for improving the nutritive conditions of rice.

Agricultural workers in North and South Phyongan provinces increased the physiological activity of rice by responsibly conducting the leaf additional fertilizing while watering the farm fields in a scientific way.

Steps have been taken to prevent the heat damage in the farming of dry-field crops.
