Nationwide Effort to Minimize Intense Heat Damage

Pyongyang, August 2 (KCNA) -- The temperature is rising in the overall areas of the DPRK, with persistent fierce heat witnessed in some areas. In this regard, a campaign has been launched across the country to minimize the damage by the fierce heat. Hyesan City of Ryanggang Province has urged the hygienic and anti-epidemic center to enhance its responsibility and role so as to prevent any contaminated water from flowing into the reservoirs by conducting the strict analysis of water quality in rivers. Suan County of North Hwanghae Province takes measures to ensure the normal power supply to households through regular repair of equipment at minor power stations and prevent any possible electric accident by heat expansion of wires. In consideration of its regional character of having many mountains, Changsong County of North Phyongan Province appointed the fire and forest rangers at major positions to tighten the fire observation. Those in South Hwanghae Province have turned out in the struggle to protect crops from damage by intense heat. The province directs efforts to informing the farms of weather conditions and follow-up agro-technical measures, while urging them to pay deep attention to the water supply and control and the prevention of damage by harmful insects. |
