The completion of the Korean-style large-scale hydro-power station comprising Phalhyang, Changpho and Kwangdok dams and cascade power stations with big generation capacity built in deep mountains of the Orangchon area provided a new foundation for making a stride forward in the economic development and the improvement of people's living standard of the province.

The station is another precious asset made by the irresistible might of the spirit of devotedly carrying out the Party's policies displayed by our people and the development potentiality of our state.

The power stations Nos. 3 and 4 with dams were built along the steep Orangchon valley and below them the cascade power stations Nos. 1, 2 and 5 were built along the waterway. The construction consumed millions of cubic meters of concrete tamping and the length of the main waterway tunnel is over 40 kilometers.

The power stations Nos. 1, 2 and 5 had been completed thanks to the arduous efforts of the people in North Hamgyong Province, but later, the overall construction of the station was almost suspended due to various difficulties and obstacles.

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un inspected the construction site of the station in July Juche 107 (2018), which served as a turning point in the construction of the hydropower base.

Having learned in detail about the construction of the Phalhyang Dam in stagnation, he set forth the militant tasks for thoroughly implementing the instructions of President

Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il and saw to it that revolutionary measures were taken to concentrate all efforts of the whole Party and the whole state on it.

All-out charge of loyalty, fierce day and night campaign and resolute lightning campaign were waged to bring earlier the completion of the Phalhyang Dam true to the militant appeal of the Party Central Committee.

Thanks to the builders' patriotism, loyalty and heroic struggle, a flag of victory was finally flied on the dam in December 2019.

The completion of the Phalhyang dam, the main object of the construction, opened up broad vistas for hastening the completion of the power station.

Service personnel and civilian fully displayed the might of their cooperation in the construction of the Orangchon power stations Nos. 4 and No. 3.

Buoyed by patriotic devotion of the builders and positive support given by all people across the country, a large power producing base has been built as another wealth of our prosperous and powerful country at the upper reaches of the Orangchon previously covered with woods.

Officials, Party members and other working people in North Hamgyong Province reverently erected a monument to field guidance by facing natural granite out of the will to add glory to the exploits of President Kim Il Sung, Chairman Kim Jong Il and General Secretary Kim Jong Un.
