On this significant day, the DPRK people are looking back with deep emotion on the undying steps he left on the way to the forefront to defend the country, crossing high and steep passes in simple jumper.

He gave his first field guidance to the Seoul Ryu Kyong Su Guards 105th Tank Division of the Korean People's Army (KPA) in August, Juche 49 (1960), and since then he had provided field guidance to KPA units ceaselessly in order to strengthen it.

In the mid-1990s when the DPRK faced manifold ordeals by the hostile forces' moves to isolate and stifle the country and owing to natural disasters, the Chairman continuously inspected KPA units to overcome the difficulties in the van.

He inspected the dwarf pine post of the KPA on January 1, 1995. He made more 25, 000 ri-long journey for Songun leadership in 1996, 30, 000 ri-long journey in 1997 and 40, 000 ri-long journey in 1998 (1 ri equals to 0.4km).

He inspected more than 2, 490 units in the field of armed forces until the last moment of his life.

Thanks to the leadership of the Chairman the KPA strengthened into the politically, ideologically, militarily and technically strong army.
