President Kim Il Sung, visited Kaesong City in May, Juche 81 (1992), said that the Korean nation established Songgyungwan, the highest educational institution in Kaesong, the capital of Koryo in 992 and conducted the education of university. And he took measures to establish a university which inherits Songgyungwan.

The President indicated the founding year of the university and named it "Koryo Songgyungwan University". And he illuminated the tasks and ways arising in developing the work of the university including the construction of university buildings and dormitory around Songgyungwan and the setting up of faculties for training technical personnel.

Chairman Kim Jong Il carefully guided the work for setting up the faculty and subjects and building up forces of teachers and researchers and sent many modern facilities needed for the educational scientific research.

Busy as he was with the revolutionary leadership, the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un personally examined a new plan for the building arrangement of Koryo Songgyungwan University and its design and wisely led officials and builders to push forward with the project.

Under the great loving care of the peerlessly great men, Koryo Songgyungwan University has achieved great successes in the work for strengthening education, scientific research and material and technical foundation of the university.

A meeting for marking the 1, 030th founding anniversary of Koryo Songgyungwan University was held on August 31.
