Engraved on the tablet were letters "Comrade Kim Jong Il, chairman of the National Defence Commission of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, visited the scientists' hall of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences on August 11, 2001" in Korean and Russian languages.

Attending the ceremony were related personages of the Novosibirsk regional government of Russia, the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the mission of the Foreign Ministry in Novosibirsk, the family of internationalist soldier Ya. T. Nobichenko and the DPRK ambassador to Russia and his embassy members.

After a congratulatory speech, the tablet was unveiled and a floral basket and bouquets were placed before the tablet.

Then a performance was given by Russian artistes.
