COVID-19 Can Spread through Packed Seafood: Russian Biologist
Moscow, September 2 (KCNA) -- According to the Russian Ria-Novosti news agency, Dr. of biology Alexandr Semyonov, director of the Yekaterinburg Branch of State Research Center of Virology and Biotechnology Vector under the Russian Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing, said that novel coronavirus can spread even through packed seafood.

He said that fish, shrimp and scallop are not infected by COVID-19 but seafood processed and packed by those infected with the malignant epidemic could be infected with virus.

Given that seafood including fish is mainly put on the dresser from refrigerator, if the infected cases that do not wear masks touch and pack fish, shrimp and mollusk while sneezing, the seafood would be infected with virus, he added.

He stressed that the main route of infection by virus is droplet and if it infiltrates into foodstuffs from patient, those who contacted with the foodstuffs would be infected.
