Efforts Focused on Minimizing Typhoon Damage in Agricultural Sector
Pyongyang, September 5 (KCNA) -- Officials and working people of the agricultural sector of the DPRK take thorough measures to protect crops from typhoon damage.

Making the disastrous weather phenomena an established fact, officials of the Agricultural Commission and provincial rural economic committees went to farms to examine all elements prone to damage and take agricultural technical measures to rapidly cope with the emergency situation.

Agricultural workers across the country make all efforts to prepare the regular operation of drainage equipment and facilities and prevent fields from being inundated by scientifically managing water in paddy fields.

Establishing double power supply systems in case of blackouts, irrigation management stations raise the roles of mobile repair teams and responsibly carry out inspection and repairs of pumping equipment while preparing necessary spare parts.

The agricultural sector scientically controls the water level of reservoirs, improves medium and small rivers and digs drainage canals so as to prevent arable land from being washed away by floods and mountain landslides

Stockbreeding and fruit farming sectors, too, push ahead with the work to prevent damage from heavy rain, storms and gale.
