Typhoon 11 Affects DPRK with Rain and Shower with Intermittent Torrential Rain
Pyongyang, September 5 (KCNA) -- All areas of the DPRK except Ryanggang Province have been being affected by rain and shower accompanied with intermittent torrential rain, being influenced by Typhoon 11 now approaching the country in its northward movement.

According to data available, there have been reports about scores of areas with more than 100mm rainfall from 4:00 on Sunday to 11:00 on Monday.

Typical precipitations in Kangwon Province are 192 mm in Munchon City, 154 mm in Popdong County, 151 mm in Wonsan City, 132 mm in Phangyo County and 131 mm in Kosan County. North Hwanghae Province has shown 131 mm in Sinphyong County while North Phyongan Province has reported 141 mm in Unjon County and 140 mm in Nyongbyon County. In South Phyongan Province, Pukchang County has registered 128 mm rainfall while Jungsan County 127 mm. The precipitation in Haeju City, South Hwanghae Province is 120 mm and that in Sudong County in South Hamgyong Province is 105 mm.

Especially there was heavy rain in some parts of the country on Sunday, notably in Phyong-ri, Sunchon City, South Phyongan Province that recorded more than 30mm an hour from 13:00 to 17:00 and in Munchon City, Kangwon Province that recorded 75mm from 11:00 to 14:00.

Areas reported with more than 50mm torrential rain in three hours include Nyongbyon County, Chonma County, Jongju City and Pakchon County in North Phyongan Province and Phyongsong City, Jungsan County and Unsan County in South Phyongan Province and Popdong County in Kangwon Province.
