Pyongyang, September 6 (KCNA) -- The national symbols of the DPRK are associated with the patriotism and immortal feats of the peerlessly great men who displayed the country's dignity and greatness all over the world.

From the first period of nation building, President Kim Il Sung put his heart and soul into the work for providing the people with national symbols.

At the Presidium of the Party Central Committee held in early August, Juche 37 (1948), the "Democratic People's Republic of Korea", the nomenclature of the DPRK embodying the independent, genuine democratic and popular character of the Republic and the basic aim and duty of the Korean revolution, came into being.

On August 16, 1946, he initiated the creation of "The Patriotic Song" (national anthem) and gave detailed instructions on the contents of the song and its emotion and mood. And he finally confirmed the words and tune of the song in late June 1947.

Chairman Kim Jong Il detected deviations in creating the national flag and emblem and saw to it that model designs were drawn on the basis of the original works and they were regulated.

He saw to it that the national flag and emblem of the DPRK was glorified as the eternal treasures of the Korean revolution from generation to generation by fixing the national flag and emblem of the DPRK legally at the socialist constitution of the DPRK and adopting the DPRK laws on the national flag and emblem.

The Chairman provided the eternal cornerstone, the absolute standard of Pyongyang cultured language through his revolutionary and people-oriented style of writing, precious linguistic means and methods and foreign languages mode for command of speech created in the course of his energetic ideological, theoretical and literary activities.

Even the national flower of Korea, the magnolia blossom, tells a meaningful story.

Visiting the Jongbangsan Pleasure Ground in May 1964, the President remembered a flower garden he saw in his Changdok School days. The Chairman, who had kept in mind the instructions of the President, found out the flower and showed it to him.

The President saw it and personally named it "Mokran" (magnolia).

Taking into full account the people's emotion of pine tree and heritage, the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un made sure that the pine tree was instituted as the national tree of Korea in April 2015.

In November 2014, he saw to it that Phungsan dog was set as the national dog of Korea, presenting the people with another national symbol.
