The championships will bring together the April 25 Sports Team, the Sports Team of the Ministry of Land and Marine Transport, the Sports Team of the Chollima Steel Complex, the Pyongyang City Air Club, Central Sports School and other sports teams. The players will compete in 410-odd subcategories of some 20 events such as football, basketball, volleyball, table-tennis, athletics, judo and weightlifting.

Present at an opening ceremony were Vice-premier of the Cabinet Kim Song Ryong, officials concerned, sportspersons and Pyongyang citizens.

Minister of Physical Culture and Sports Kim Il Guk made an opening address.

The championships will take place in Pyongyang City and Sariwon City and Sohung County of North Hwanghae Province and other places.
