People used to call them brother falls because their twin columns fall like two close brothers side by side.

Chairman Kim Jong Il visited Chonthae-dong in May, Juche 70 (1981), and personally fixed a new mountain-climbing course, giving the falls another name Isonnam Falls, which is what we call now.

With the two water columns roaring down as if they are bragging their strength, the unique beauty of the falls adds to the natural scenery of the area and is used as a recreational ground for the people.
