Rodong Sinmun says that holding Kim Jong Il as general secretary of the WPK on October 8, Juche 86 (1997) is a political event of great significance in the development of our Party and the revolution.

In the whole period of his revolutionary leadership, he set the Party building as the fundamental issue of the revolution and wisely led the work for strengthening the Party organizationally and ideologically and enhancing its leadership role, the paper said, and went on:

Thanks to his unique Party building idea and line, and experienced and seasoned leadership, a revolutionary turn was made in organizational and ideological construction and leadership art of the Party. And our Party could display its might as the revolutionary Party where the leader's ideological system and leadership system were firmly established, as the Party guiding the Korean revolution along the road of one victory after another and as the mother Party that forms a harmonious whole with the popular masses and serves them.

His Party building idea and theory serve as immortal guidelines to be firmly maintained in the struggle for accomplishing the cause of Juche-oriented Party building, and the strong foundation for the revolutionary Party building provided by him as the basic guarantee of the mightiness and invincibility of our Party.

It is an unshakable faith and will of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un to conduct all the Party building and activities the way the Chairman did from A to Z and to add luster to his immortal Party building idea and exploits forever.

All the Party members, servicepersons and other people should vigorously struggle for the overall rejuvenation and comprehensive development of our-style socialism under the leadership of Kim Jong Un, bearing deep in mind the great pride and prestige of holding Kim Jong Il as eternal leader of our Party and people.

Minju Joson notes that the cause of the WPK holding Kim Jong Il in high esteem as eternal leader is invincible, and immensely bright and rosy is the future of our Republic guided by the Party.
