State Academic Degrees and Titles Conferred on Intellectuals in DPRK
Pyongyang, October 9 (KCNA) -- State academic degrees and titles were conferred on intellectuals on the occasion of the 77th founding anniversary of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK).

They solved sci-tech problems arising in promoting the country's economic development and tangibly contributed to the education of the rising generations through their strenuous efforts.

The title of Academician went to O Hui Bok and Han Yong Hwan, a teacher and a researcher of Kim Il Sung University, and Hwang Ji Chol, a researcher of Pyongyang Kim Won Gyun Conservatory, and the title of Candidate Academician to Sin Yong Ho, dean of a faculty of Kim Il Sung University, Yang Ki Chol, department director of Kim Chaek University of Technology, and Pak Kum Hui, rector of Pyongyang Teachers Training College.

Professorship was conferred on O Kwang Hi, director of an institute of Kim Chaek University of Technology, and Ri Chol, vice-rector of Pyongyang Han Tok Su University of Light Industry.

Doctorate was awarded to 54 persons, including Pak Jong Chol, dean of a faculty of Kim Il Sung University, Ri Kyong Jon, dean of a faculty of Kim Hyong Jik University of Education, Kang Ryong Chol, section chief of the State Academy of Sciences, and Han Yong Ju, vice-chairperson of the Central Broadcasting Committee of Korea.
