Model Worker Honor Prize, instituted in Juche 78 (1989), is awarded to those who have worked hard at their posts for a long time, on the occasions of the birth anniversaries of President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il.

Thousands of workers from different parts of the country have won this prize up to now.

Among them are a worker of the hot-rolling shop at the Kim Chaek Iron and Steel Complex, who has introduced valuable inventions and innovations into production and brought big benefits to the country for over 30 years, and a worker of the chemical machinery branch factory at the Hungnam Fertilizer Complex, who has invented many jigs while operating several machines to contribute to the fertilizer production.

Truly numberless are the patriotic workers devoting themselves to the collective and comrades, typically a company commander of the Ryongdung Coal Mine, who has carried out the coal production plan every month by applying rational coal mining methods, and a drawer of the September Textile Mill, who has trained many skilled workers while fulfilling yearly plan.
