The sci-tech presentation, divided into meteorological, hydrological and oceanographic panels, heard 100-odd papers presented by more than 10 units, including Kim Il Sung University, the State Hydro-meteorological Administration and the Global Environmental Information Institute of the State Academy of Sciences.

Highly estimated were the research findings that settled sci-tech problems for establishing the process of forecasting downpour and heavy rain.

The symposium focused on the ways for predicting on a scientific basis disastrous abnormal weather phenomena and newly establishing the flood prediction system.
