Wreaths Laid at Friendship Tower
Pyongyang, October 26 (KCNA) -- Wreaths were laid at the Friendship Tower in the capital city of Pyongyang on Oct. 25, the 72nd anniversary of the entry of the Chinese People's Volunteers (CPV) into the Korean front.

The guard of honor of the Korean People's Army lined up before the tower.

Attending the wreath-laying ceremony were Kang Yun Sok, vice-chairman of the Standing Committee of the Supreme People's Assembly (SPA), Mun Song Hyok, vice department director of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK), Lieutenant-General Kim Min Sop, vice-minister of National Defence, Pak Myong Ho, vice-minister of Foreign Affairs, Kim In Chol, vice-minister of Public Security, officials concerned and Pyongyang citizens.

Also present were Sun Hongliang, charge d'affaires ad Interim, and officials of the Chinese embassy here and Chinese guests and residents in the DPRK.

The national anthems of the two countries were played.

Amid the playing of the wreath-laying music, placed at the tower was a wreath in the joint name of the WPK Central Committee, the SPA Standing Committee of the DPRK and the Cabinet of the DPRK.

Also laid at the tower were wreaths in the names of the Ministry of National Defence, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Public Security, the Ministry of External Economic Relations and the Ministry of Culture, wreaths in the joint names of the Korean Committee for Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries and the DPRK-China Friendship Association, the Pyongyang City Committee of the WPK and the Pyongyang City People's Committee and a wreath in the name of the Chinese embassy.

The participants paid a silent tribute to the memory of the CPV martyrs who displayed noble internationalist obligation and unparalleled self-sacrificing spirit in the sacred war against the imperialists' invasion under the banner of resisting America, aiding Korea, safeguarding the home and defending the motherland. Then they looked round the tower.

On the same day, wreaths were also placed at the cemeteries and graves of CPV fallen fighters in Hyongjesan District of Pyongyang City, Anju City and Hoechang County of South Phyongan Province, Onsong County of North Hamgyong Province, and Kaesong City.

Meanwhile, officials of the Chinese embassy laid floral baskets, bouquets and flowers at the CPV martyrs' graves in Sariwon City of North Hwanghae Province.
