To cope with the continuous disastrous meteorological phenomena in recent years, provinces, cities and counties have pushed ahead with river improvement perseveringly, setting the water conservation as a medium- and long-term project.

Kimhwa County of Kangwon Province concentrated machines on river improvement, giving priority to the design for increasing the pass capacity of water and ensuring the safety of embankments. It successfully completed the project for removing more than 1.2 million cubic meters of river bed and filling more than 0.9 million cubic meters of earth for embankments by conducting the political work on a massive scale.

Mangyongdae District of Pyongyang City and Paechon County of South Hwanghae Province stepped up the work for improving rivers and streams while consolidating the material and technical foundations for nature-remaking project.

Meanwhile, Kujang County of North Phyongan Province and Singye County of North Hwanghae Province finished the river dredging and stone-covering projects ahead of schedule through a brisk socialist emulation among units. And such river improvement project was carried out in many other areas including Hoeryong City and Kyongsong County of North Hamgyong Province.
