President Kim Il Sung made his speech "The Duty of Mothers in the Education of Children" at the First National Meeting of Mothers on Nov. 16, Juche 50 (1961). In the speech he clarified the issues for mothers to fully discharge their responsibility and duty.

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un made sure that this historic day was instituted as Mother's Day to raise the prestige and position of the mothers to the highest level. He has kindly led them to exalt their honor as women revolutionaries on the road of following the Workers' Party of Korea.

In November Juche 101 (2012), he saw to it that the 4th National Meeting of Mothers was held to celebrate the first Mother's Day, and had a photo session with the participants in the meeting. On the next year's Mother's Day he visited a foodstuff factory, where he congratulated female workers.

He saw that the most splendid edifices for mothers and children were built and put forward as Labor Heroes the mothers who gave birth to many children. His trust and love for them are always kept in their mind.

Our mothers are filled with enthusiasm to devote their wisdom and zeal to the struggle for prosperity of the country, entrusting their and their families' destiny to Kim Jong Un who is looking after them with his great loving care.
