Pyongyang City opened up a prospect for making blocks of different types by using the sources of raw materials abundant in its surroundings at the block production bases in different districts. It has also established new processes for recycling waste plastics, fibers and rubber and producing outdoor coating materials and paints and sanitary ware with locally available raw materials and put their operation on a normal basis.

Similar successes were witnessed in North and South Hamgyong, North Phyongan and South Hwanghae provinces.
