While giving precedence to prospecting, officials of the province have pushed ahead with work to set up stone production bases in relevant areas and expand their production capacity.

Nyongbyon County witnessed good results by boldly stepping up the project to further increase the production of building stone with locally available resources.

Tongrim County built a building-materials factory in the area rich in stone resources and furnished it with various kinds of stone processing equipment.

Kwaksan County, too, built a stone processing station and produced processed stone prototypes including slabs and boundary stones.

Meanwhile, work is going on in other areas including Uiju and Chonma counties to find more colored stone for artificial stone plastering.
