DPRK Premier Inspects Various Sectors of National Economy

Pyongyang, November 29 (KCNA) -- Kim Tok Hun, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, vice-president of the State Affairs Commission of the DPRK and premier of the Cabinet, inspected various sectors of the national economy. At the Pukchang Thermal Power Complex, a leading power production base of the country, the premier encouraged the workers making innovative success in electricity generation with commitment to victoriously conclude this year, a year of crucial importance in implementing the five-year plan. He underscored the need for the officials to organize and guide production more thoughtfully, mindful that the fulfillment of the national economic plan represents loyalty to the Party and the people and devoted service to them. He called for giving priority to science and technology and attaining the electricity production goal set forth in the decisions of the 5th plenary meeting of the 8th Central Committee of the WPK. He then visited the Sungri General Motor Enterprise, where he sized up the situation and called for actively drawing on modern sci-tech achievements to produce greater number of higher-performance trucks while regarding quality as a lifeline, and for forcefully stepping up technical updating so as to consolidate the foundation of the country's auto industry development. At several coal mines in Sunchon and Tokchon areas, he said that it is necessary to further increase the production to satisfactorily supply coal essentially required by all fields of the national economy including the power industry, and for relevant units to actively help coal mines, with awareness that they are also responsible for the coal production. Consultative meetings held in field discussed the issue for officials, standard-bearers in the implementation of the Party policies, to display the spirit of unconditionally carrying out policy tasks given by the Party and the state for this year, the issue of fulfilling responsibility in quality control and the issue of providing raw and other materials on a preferential basis. Earlier, the premier looked round the Songgum Stock-breeding Farm in Pyongyang City where he called for introducing superior strains of domestic animals, ensuring timely supply of food and guaranteeing scientific breeding. He also learned about renovation of the arboretum at the Central Botanical Garden and pressed for appropriate measures. |
