Young Expedition Members Tour Mt Paektu Area
Pyongyang, December 10 (KCNA) -- An expedition of youth and students from across the DPRK to the revolutionary battle sites in the area of Mt Paektu toured the revolutionary battle sites in the Paektu area.

The members of the expedition laid a floral basket and bouquets before the statue of President Kim Il Sung at the Samjiyon Grand Monument and made a bow to him.

Being briefed on the fact that the monument was built as a heroic epic work and a grand open-air museum showing the exploits of the President, who led the anti-Japanese revolutionary struggle to victory, through the ideological and artistic depiction, the visitors looked round the groups of subsidiary theme sculptures.

They visited the Mupho Bivouac where the President let the main force of the Korean People's Revolutionary Army (KPRA) camp in May Juche 28 (1939) during the advance into the homeland.

They were told that the President convened a meeting of commanding officers of the KPRA to set forth the militant tasks for advancing into the Taehongdan area.

They recalled with deep emotion the revolutionary exploits of Chairman Kim Jong Il, who regarded it as his noble mission to formulate the revolutionary idea of the President as Kimilsungism and worked heart and soul to realize it.

They arrived at the Taehongdan Revolutionary Battle Site, singing revolutionary songs.

Going round the command post of the Taehongdan Battle, etc. they grasped the historic significance of the battle which demonstrated the might of the KPRA and aroused the people to the sacred anti-Japanese war.

During the expedition to the battle sites of Mt Paektu, they held colorful political and cultural gatherings including a meeting to hear the impressions of the reminiscences of anti-Japanese guerrillas, a contest of singing revolutionary songs in chorus while marching in array and a contest of frontline-style political work.
