That day President Kim Il Sung test-fired the first submachine gun made by the Korean workers by their own efforts.

It was a historic gun report that heralded the birth of the Juche-oriented defence industry.

After the liberation of the country, the President chose the site of an ordnance factory in Phyongchon plain of Pyongyang with the will to build our own ordnance industry as early as possible.

When the factory was built, he, trusting the workers and technicians of the factory, gave them the task of making submachine guns.

He sent a sample of a machine gun and technical forces and also additional necessary machinery and equipment. Under his meticulous guidance by which he instructed the officials to make everything, even a spring, by our own efforts, the first machine gun, 100 percent our own, was finally made.

At the shooting ground he said that the successful test-fire of submachine guns made by our workers and technicians with our own efforts and indigenous technology is the first victory of the munitions industry of the DPRK and another proud achievement made by the Korean people in building a new country.

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un visited the remodeled Phyongchon Revolutionary Site one day in December Juche 104 (2015), where he said that the President, looking forward to the distant future of the revolution, laid the foundation of the self-supporting defence industry from scratch, adding that he is a brilliant commander, a famous man and a great sage for all ages.

Thanks to the historic gun-report made by the President on that December day more than 70 years ago, the DPRK could become a powerful nuclear weapons state.
