Development of Offshore Fish Farming and Aquaculture Promoted in DPRK |
|
Pyongyang, December 12 (KCNA) -- The fishing sector of the DPRK is pushing ahead with the work to put the offshore fish farming and aquaculture on a new scientific basis and increase the production. According to data available at the Ministry of Fisheries, the number of fry produced by the third quarter of the year amounts to 95 percent of the yearly plan. By expanding the capacity of the culture ground and putting the fish farming on a scientific basis, the Yanghwa Fishery Station under the Sinpho Distant-Sea Fishery Complex, the Rakwon Fishery Station under the South Hamgyong Provincial Fishery Management Bureau and other fishery units have produced lots of fry. Hwadae County and Orang offices for stocking rivers with fishes boosted the fish farming density by introducing advanced technology, thus increasing the fry production. Similar successes are being made by the Susongchon Office for Stocking Rivers with Fishes and the Kyongsong Office for Stocking Rivers with Fishes. The Jikha Atlantic Salmon Pedigree Farm is perfecting material and technical foundations for raising fry. Offshore farms in the west sea promoting the introduction of advanced technology into the production of seaweeds are busy with farming a sea tangle of good species, thus opening up vistas for increasing the per-hectare production. |
