A military parade for celebrating the 90th anniversary of the Korean People's Revolutionary Army (KPRA) was held with splendor in April to show the DPRK's invincible military strength, its revolutionary armed forces' superiority in military technology. The military parade demonstrated once again the true picture and courageous stamina of the Korean People's Army, which has grown to be an invincible revolutionary army of the Party, the driving force for national defence and the genuine people's army along with the history of 90 years, and the overwhelming strength of the DPRK which took a strong strategic position and the tremendous might of its revolutionary armed forces.

The Seventh Session of the 14th Supreme People's Assembly of the DPRK in September legalized its state policy of the nuclear force, the pivot of the national defence capability, to further consolidate the irreversible position of the DPRK as a nuclear weapons state.

Practical military measures were taken one after another in September and October to mercilessly foil the escalating military threats of the U.S. and other hostile forces. They fully displayed the reality, combat effectiveness and actual war capacity of the DPRK's nuclear combat forces.

Such military operations as ballistic missile launching drill under the simulation of loading tactical nuclear warhead at a silo under a reservoir, striking drills by super-large multiple rocket launchers and tactical ballistic missiles, a new-type ground-to-ground medium-to-long range ballistic missile launch hitting the preset water area in the Pacific across the Japanese archipelago and the largest-ever combined air attack drill in the history of the KPA Air Force showed the world clearly that the enemies' continued provocative military moves would face more thorough and merciless counteraction from the DPRK.

In November, the test-fire of new-type ICBM Hwasongpho-17 was conducted under the serious condition that the reckless military confrontational moves of the U.S. and other hostile forces persistently driving the military and political situation in the Korean peninsula to the red line had gone beyond the limit. It was a solemn declaration of our Party and government's invariable will to return nuke for nuke and all-out confrontation for all-out confrontation.

December, too, witnessed a test aimed to settle a crucial issue in the development of another new-type strategic weapon system and an important final-stage test for developing reconnaissance satellite. Those tests contributed to protecting the independent right and interests of the DPRK and further raising its prestige.

All those achievements are a brilliant fruition of the respected General Secretary Kim Jong Un's rare wisdom, strong courage and outstanding leadership ability.

He often visited the training ground for the military parade celebrating the 90th birthday of the KPRA to give detailed guidance to it so as to make it the most perfect military parade ever in history.

Thanks to the energetic guidance of him who achieved the great cause of completing the state nuclear force through his death-defying struggle for the defence industry revolution, shouldering the destiny of the country and people, a fundamental guarantee was provided for proudly enacting the policy of the nuclear force.

He had steadily braved danger to make our defence industry fully discharge its mission as the arsenal of Juche Korea and indicate the orientation and ways for developing new-type ultra-modern weapons. His energetic guidance resulted in such miracles that the overwhelming weapons of the DPRK soared into space.

He personally came out, together with his beloved daughter and wife, to the historic site for test-firing a major strategic weapon, a crucial milestone in bolstering up the nuclear force of the DPRK, and guided the whole course of the test-fire. His noble patriotic devotion greatly touched the hearts of all the service personnel and people.

Through the eventful successes made in the development of the national defence capabilities this year, the people in the DPRK came to cherish deeper in their mind the unshakable faith that only victory and glory are in store for them when they advance under the leadership of the General Secretary.
