President Kim Il Sung's Immortal Feats for Building of Juche-based Militia Forces
Pyongyang, January 14 (KCNA) -- The Worker-Peasant Red Guards (WPRG) in the DPRK have developed into the powerful militant ranks and a reliable wing of the Korean People's Army under the care of the illustrious commanders, creditably discharging their duty in the struggle for building socialism and defending the country with rifle in one hand and hammer, sickle and brush in the other.

The WPRG's proud history of 60-odd years is associated with the undying feats of President Kim Il Sung who devoted himself to the founding of the Juche-based militia forces.

The President gave birth to the building of the revolutionary militia forces in the flames of the anti-Japanese armed struggle, and had formed various forms of militia organizations, paying deep attention to the building of militia forces together with the building of regular armed forces after Korea's liberation.

He led the militia forces to fully perform their roles for the victory in the Fatherland Liberation War (1950-1953) and set it as a pressing task to put all the people under arms in coping with the situation prevailed after the war.

Visiting Wonhwa-ri, Phyongwon County of South Phyongan Province, in January Juche 48 (1959), he unfolded a far-reaching plan for putting all the people under arms after acquainting himself with the specific condition of its self-defence corps.

He confirmed the name of to-be-built new militia forces as "Worker-Peasant Red Guards" and reorganized the People's Self-defence Forces into the WPRG on January 14.

Indeed, he is a peerless patriot and an ever-victorious iron-willed commander who paved the unique way for the building of the revolutionary militia forces for the first time in history.

A new heyday is now opened in the history of building of the Juche-based militia forces under the leadership of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un, supreme commander of the armed forces of the DPRK.
