Preparations for Farming Brisk in DPRK
Pyongyang, January 25 (KCNA) -- Agricultural officials and workers in the DPRK are stepping up the preparations for farming.

As of January, more than 1.7 million tons of quality self-sufficing manure have been produced and fertile soil spread on over 9,200 hectares of farmland across the country.

After finding an important way for unconditionally attaining the grain production goal set forth by the Party this year in improving the fertility of soil, officials in the field of agriculture have pushed ahead with the work to produce quality self-sufficing manure, cover farm fields with fertile soil and improve cold and wet lands in a big way.

In particular, they are securing raw materials of fermented manure, huminite and organic compound fertilizer and producing them as planned while concentrating efforts on improving the quality self-sufficing manure.

South Hwanghae Province, which started its new year's advance with transport of more than 10,000 tons of manure to the rural areas, made sure that every city, county and farm work out a clear daily plan and carry it out without fail.

North Phyongan Province made a comprehensive survey of cold and wet lands and low-yielding areas and has directed efforts to improving them and spreading fertile soil on farm fields.

Such work is conducted in North Hwanghae, South Phyongan, and other provinces and regions, too.
