The slogan, set forth by Chairman Kim Jong Il in January Juche 42 (1953) when he was at Mangyongdae Revolutionary School, reflects his appeal to all students to accumulate more useful knowledge and become sons and daughters faithful to the fatherly Generalissimo Kim Il Sung and add luster to Korea.

Since then, the slogan has served as a motto of all schoolchildren across the country and a precious guideline for their work and life, encouraging their enthusiasm for study and bringing about a great change in their study.

Through the dynamic movement for learning from the glorious childhood of the great Generalissimos, the schoolchildren have prepared themselves as true revolutionaries who firmly trust and follow their leader only.

And they came to cherish, through tree-planting and other activities, the love for their own things and patriotism of valuing and cultivating even a tree and a blade of grass in their native villages.

Thanks to the slogan, great achievements have been made in the study of schoolchildren. Many of them became winners of the July 15 Honor Student Prize and later heroes, doctors and deputies to people's assemblies who left distinguished traces in the sacred struggle for the prosperity of the country with their high ability.

The slogan still displays its great vitality, encouraging the younger generation to prepare themselves as pillars of the country.
