Coal Production Increased at Kaechon Area Coal Mining Complex in DPRK
Pyongyang, February 7 (KCNA) -- True to the decisions of the Sixth Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, the Kaechon Area Coal Mining Complex in the DPRK gave precedence to tunneling, thus increasing coal production by 1.2 times as compared with the same period of last year.

The complex has meticulously conducted the operation and guidance to make sure that coal prospecting corps and coal mines push ahead with the existing production and long-term production without any deviation by prioritizing prospecting and tunneling while maintaining and reinforcing the equipment and introducing modern means and methods on a wide scale.

It has organized a socialist emulation among coal mines and tunneling platoons to secure more coal deposits by capital tunneling and preparatory tunneling.

The Kaechon Coal Mine has newly provided preliminary cutting faces by applying a rational working method to raise the drilling speed and blasting efficiency.

The Jagang Provincial Supply Coal Mine has made a signal progress in coal production by pushing ahead with technical innovation to introduce advanced blasting methods.

The Mujindae Youth Coal Mine and the Samrok Coal Mine have raised the proportion of mechanization in the cutting face work, thus raising the coal output.

The Pongchon and Joyang coal mines have also secured more reserve coal fields while raising the utilization of tunneling equipment.
