National Art Exhibition Opens
Pyongyang, February 14 (KCNA) -- A national art exhibition opened with due ceremony at the Korean Art Gallery on Monday to celebrate the 81st birth anniversary of Chairman Kim Jong Il.

On display at the venue of the exhibition is an art piece depicting the personality of Kim Jong Il as a peerlessly great man standing at the top of Mt Paektu.

Korean painting "February holiday before Korea's liberation" reminds people of the noble revolutionary career of Kim Jong Il who was born as the Shining Star of Mt Paektu in the sacred place of the revolution and trained the wisdom of the brilliant commander, hearing the gunfire of the grim anti-Japanese war as a lullaby.

The works, including a Korean painting, show the faith and will of the Korean people to glorify forever the sacred revolutionary career and exploits of Kim Jong Il who devoted his all to the prosperity and development of the country and happiness of posterity all his life.

Also, there are fine art works showing the eye-opening changes of the DPRK, which greeted a new era of prosperity and development under the guidance of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un, and its tremendous national power and the great happiness of the people.

Present at the opening ceremony were Jon Kyong Chol, vice department director of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, officials and creators in the field of fine art and working people in Pyongyang City.

Minister of Culture Sung Jong Gyu made an opening address.
