Joint National Meeting of KCU Organizations Held in DPRK

Pyongyang, February 17 (KCNA) -- A joint national meeting of the Korean Children's Union (KCU) organizations took place in Pyongyang on Feb. 16, the 81st birth anniversary of Generalissimo Kim Jong Il. It was attended by students of Mangyongdae Revolutionary School and Kang Pan Sok Revolutionary School, schoolchildren in Pyongyang and pupils joining the KCU. Present there on invitation were Kim Su Gil, chief secretary of the Pyongyang City Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK), Ri Tu Song, department director of the WPK Central Committee, officials of the youth league, persons of merits and labor innovators in the city. Mun Chol, chairman of the Central Committee of the Socialist Patriotic Youth League, made a report. The reporter said that the joint national meeting of the KCU organizations for celebrating the 81st birth anniversary of Kim Jong Il is to be held in the significant period when the KCU members across the country are firmly preparing themselves to be young revolutionaries who will shoulder the future of a great and powerful country, true to the important letter sent by the respected fatherly Marshal Kim Jong Un to the participants in the 9th Congress of the KCU. The great Generalissimo Kim Jong Il who newly instituted slogan of the KCU as required by the developing revolution gave precious instructions which would serve as the guidelines in the building of the KCU and its activities and visited many schools, schoolchildren's palaces and camps to take meticulous care of the schoolchildren so that they could realize their hopes and talents to their heart's content, equipped with knowledge, morality and good health, he said, and went on: The history of the noble love of the great Generalissimo for the younger generation is given steady continuity on this land thanks to the respected fatherly Marshal Kim Jong Un. The reporter called upon all the KCU members to trust and follow Kim Jong Un to the last by inheriting the tradition of loyalty created by the members of the anti-Japanese children's corps in the forests of Mt Paektu and to fully prepare themselves to be dependable successors and reserves for communism, who can take over the baton of the Korean revolution. A ceremony for joining the KCU took place at the meeting. Led by Kim Su Gil, chief secretary of the Pyongyang City Committee of the WPK, the pupils joining the KCU took an oath. Officials, persons of merits and labor innovators put red ties around the necks of the pupils and pinned KCU badges on their uniforms. The pupils who joined the KCU made the first greetings of the KCU members, loudly responding to the slogan "Let us be always ready for socialist country!" Then, congratulatory speeches were made by Pak In Ho, lecturer of the Victorious Fatherland Liberation War Museum, Pak Song Hui, principal of Tongmun Primary School in Taedonggang District, and Pak Chon Jong, department director of the Ministry of Physical Culture and Sports. |
