Efforts Go into Farming Work
Pyongyang, March 6 (KCNA) -- True to the resolutions of the Seventh Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, scientific and realistic operations are being mapped out by the agricultural guidance organs at all levels in the DPRK.

Provinces, cities and counties concentrate their efforts on increasing the fertility of soil by producing much more organic fertilizer and substitute mineral fertilizer of high quality.

Agricultural guidance organs across the country are checking the wintering of wheat and barley planted in last autumn by fields and taking measures to improve their growth.

Arranged is the work to push ahead with the irrigation project planned for this year and perfect the irrigation system of the country in the period of the five-year plan.

Every province has worked out a stepwise plan in a realistic way to restore and perfect irrigation structures.

They are taking practical steps to increase the area of grain production by directing efforts to the work for acquiring new land and restoring arable land and stepping up the land realignment project and the building of networks of facilities in reclaimed tideland.

The work to put the foundation for developing agricultural science and technology on a high level is underway.

The Agricultural Commission is assigning feasible tasks to relevant units and trying to find practical ways for grasping the state of their implementation.

Measures are taken to enhance the role of agricultural guidance organs in provinces, cities and counties and of all the farms.

Officials in the agricultural sector are meticulously planning the work to carry out the programme of rural revolution in the new era.
