In the contest, its participants, divided into four groups, will compete in such sports events as basketball, volleyball, Taekwon-Do and tug-of-war at the Basketball Gymnasium, the Taekwon-Do Hall and other venues of Chongchun Street.

The opening ceremony took place at the Basketball Gymnasium in Chongchun Street on Monday.

Present there were Pak In Chol, chairman of the Central Committee of the General Federation of Trade Unions of Korea, officials concerned and officials and players of commissions, ministries and national institutions exemplary in mass sports activities.

Kim Il Guk, minister of Physical Culture and Sports, made an opening address.

The speaker said that the contest serves as an important occasion in encouraging the officials of national institutions to fulfill their heavy responsibility entrusted by the country and people in the van of the general onward march in which all the people have turned out in implementing the Party's resolutions and in demonstrating the sporting techniques they have trained and the unity of the collective.

At the end of the ceremony, there was a men's basketball game between the team of the Bureau for Affairs with Diplomatic Corps and the team of the Korean Committee for Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries.
