South Hamgyong Provincial Designing Institute Marks Its 70th Birthday
Pyongyang, March 17 (KCNA) -- A meeting took place on March 16 to mark the 70th founding anniversary of the South Hamgyong Provincial Designing Institute of the DPRK.

Ju Myong Chol, director of the institute, made a report.

The reporter said that President Kim Il Sung saw to it that the institute was founded on March 17, Juche 42 (1953) during the Fatherland Liberation War, gave instructions to deeply study the customs of Korea and the national architectural style before applying them to the design and construction work, clearly indicating the orientation and ways for the work.

Chairman Kim Jong Il saw the blueprints and model boards submitted by the institute, several times, and energetically led the work of remodeling Hamhung city in a bold way as befitting a city of the working class, he pointed out.

The institute, which has developed under the wise guidance of President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il, greeted a new phase of its development thanks to the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un, another great teacher and benevolent father, he stressed.

He said that in the past the institute has ensured on the highest level the work of courteously erecting the statues of Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il and designs for building the bases of the education in their revolutionary history, and creditably carried out the designing tasks for the major construction projects in the province.

He called upon the officials and designers of the institute to add more luster to the leadership exploits of the peerlessly great men for the construction field and devote all their wisdom and passion to making their designs reflect the idea, soul and vibrant spirit of the era of the Workers' Party suited to the Party's Juche-oriented architectural idea and policy of construction.

Present at the meeting were Kim Song Chan, secretary of the South Hamgyong Provincial Committee of the WPK, and officials and employees of the institute.
