Born into a poor peasant family before the liberation of Korea, she keenly felt the sorrow of a stateless nation, being subject to all sorts of maltreatment and contempt. She could lead a genuine life as a human being only after President Kim Il Sung liberated the country.

During the Fatherland Liberation War, she took the lead in supporting the People's Army and postwar reconstruction and had worked at a local industrial factory for decades, making a positive contribution to improving the people's standard of living.

To those who ask the secret of longevity, she says that she has lived for a hundred years thanks to the socialist system of the DPRK, adding that this grateful system is the cradle of life where all of us will enjoy happiness generation after generation.
