The election of Kim Jong Il as chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission on April 9, Juche 82 (1993), was a historic event of epochal significance in developing the DPRK and accomplishing the revolutionary cause of Juche.

Kim Jong Il, who assumed the heavy responsibility of the chairman of the National Defence Commission in the period of a crucial turn in accomplishing the socialist cause, had done everything he could for the country and the people, bearing in mind his historic responsibility.

Thanks to his devotion, the Korean People's Army could be strengthened into an invincible revolutionary army, thus bringing about a miracle of winning successive victories in the struggle for defending socialism, and the Korean people could fully display their name as the most dignified people.

Kim Jong Il was upheld as the eternal chairman of the National Defence Commission of the DPRK at the 5th Session of the 12th Supreme People's Assembly held in April Juche 101 (2012) in accordance with the ardent desire and will of all the people.

Today, the Songun revolutionary leadership exploits performed by Kim Jong Il are shining more brilliantly thanks to the noblest loyalty of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un.
