Going round farms in Hwangju County, Sariwon City, Unpha County, Sinwon County, Pyoksong County and other areas, he encouraged officials and farmers striving hard for implementing the resolutions of the Seventh Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Party Central Committee.

Stressing the importance of early-crop farming in attaining the goal of grain production for this year, he called for establishing advanced farming methods suited to the growth of wheat and barley, preceding crops, and the climatic conditions of relevant areas and for concentrating efforts on preventing drought damage to increase the per-hectare yield to the maximum.

He also urged farms to conduct such immediate farming work as the growing of young plants in a qualitative way in the right season and to manure and cultivate crops in a sci-tech way.

He stressed that the agricultural officials should always bear in mind the intention of the Party attaching importance to farming, provide responsible and substantial guidance to farming with extraordinary determination and strenuous spirit and direct primary efforts to raising the agricultural workers' enthusiasm for production.

The field consultative meetings discussed the issue of improving the nutrition of wheat and barley, the issue for scientific research institutes in the field of agriculture to give precedence to scientific and technological measures for doing good farming this year, the issue for relevant areas to push ahead with the work for completing the irrigation system in a planned way, etc.
