The North Hwanghae Provincial Institute of Agricultural Science settled the problems arising in producing multi-nutrients for rice seedlings and developed and produced a large amount of seed-covering material. It is pushing ahead with the work to introduce new farming techniques for hastening the sowing of maize.

The South Hwanghae Provincial Institute of Agricultural Science directs its efforts to finding out the sources of raw materials needed for the production of self-sufficing manure in relevant areas and developing rational production methods and also to finding out the ways for improving cold and wet lands.

The Kangwon Provincial Institute of Agricultural Science produced a large amount of multi-functional seed-covering materials and made progress in breeding high-yielding rice varieties with short growth period and high-yielding wheat varieties of good quality appropriate for the intermediary mountainous areas.
