Kim Il Sung University Makes Success in Historical Studies
Pyongyang, April 21 (KCNA) -- The National Heritage Institute of the History Faculty of Kim Il Sung University in the DPRK has made achievements in scientific researches for correctly evaluating historical relics.

In the past the institute made a number of achievements in proving historical relics through scientific clarification of Buddhist figures unearthed in Mts Myohyang and Kumgang.

Focus of recent research was made to find out various new confirming methods that can combine modern means with traditional method in assessing the value of relics.

The new methods delved into dividing the relics by manufacturing techniques, after rational analytic method was chosen for each different kind and their states.

In particular, they made big strides in increasing the analytical indices, which are the norms for assessing the value of historical relics, based on the analysis of many studies on ancient materials and manufacturing techniques.

Now the institute works on Buddhist figures, ceramics, jade goods and pictorial relics dating back to the periods of Koryo and the feudal Joson dynasty.
