Kim Tok Hun Inspects Agricultural Sector in Nampho City
Pyongyang, April 23 (KCNA) -- Kim Tok Hun, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK), vice-president of the State Affairs Commission of the DPRK and premier of the Cabinet, inspected the work of the agricultural sector in Nampho City.

Going round the Yaksu Farm in Kangso District, Songhyon Farm in Onchon County, Okdo Farm in Ryonggang County and other farms, he encouraged the agricultural workers out in the drive to implement the resolutions of the Seventh Plenary Meeting of the 8th WPK Central Committee, and learned in detail about the present farming situation.

He called on the farms to manure and cultivate wheat and barley in a scientific and technological way to suit their growing conditions and take thorough measures to prevent drought damage, and thus unconditionally carry out the production plan for early crops.

He said that officials of the agricultural guidance organs in the relevant areas, bearing in mind their duty in doing this year's farming well, should conduct farming operations and command in a responsible manner to finish the rice transplanting in the right season and in a qualitative way by intensifying the scientific and technological guidance to the rice-seedling cultivation on the principle of the right crop in the right season and the right crop on the right soil and ensuring the overhauling of farm machines in a planned way.

He also learned about the readjustment and reinforcement of irrigation facilities at farms and stressed the need for cities and counties to consistently hold fast to the completion of irrigation system as an important policy issue and push ahead with it in a planned way.

Earlier, he visited the State Academy of Sciences to discuss a series of issues arising in developing new technology and inspected the Pyongyang Construction Machine Plant to learn about the production of custom-built equipment and took relevant measures.
