On April 25, Juche 21 (1932), President Kim Il Sung founded the KPRA with the excellent sons and daughters of the Korean people.

In his early years, the President keenly realized that one has his genuine revolutionary armed forces in order to save the destiny of the fellow countrymen groaning under the bayonets of the Japanese imperialists, and embarked on the road of accomplishing the cause of army building.

The President clarified the line that one can emerge victorious only when he fights against the armed enemy with arms and laid a solid political and military foundation for forming the revolutionary armed ranks through a bloody struggle. On this basis, he finally declared to the whole world the founding of the first revolutionary armed forces of Juche type.

The founding of the KPRA was a grand event that declared the anti-imperialist death-defying resistance under the uplifted banner of national liberation and independence by its own efforts and, at the same time, a historic event which opened up a new era of the Juche revolution relying on the powerful revolutionary armed forces.

The KPRA holding the anti-Japanese legendary hero fully demonstrated its might as steel-like ranks from its first step. The President's unique idea and line were the guidelines of all the military and political activities of the KPRA and his outstanding strategy and tactics were the main source of victory in the struggle against the formidable imperialist enemy.

Under his wise leadership, the KPRA defeated the Japanese imperialists in the worst trials with neither state backing nor assistance from a regular army and accomplished the historic cause of national liberation.

Thanks to the glorious tradition of victory created by the KPRA in the revolutionary war against imperialism, the revolutionary armed forces of the DPRK could have recorded only the ever-victorious history in the confrontation with imperialism for a long time.

The Juche-oriented revolutionary armed forces which inherited the traditions of the anti-Japanese armed struggle are the great pride of our people, and the cause of Korean-style socialism is invincible thanks to the powerful revolutionary armed forces.
