A central meeting of Koreans in Japan was held at the Korean Hall in Tokyo on April 22.

Present at the meeting were Song Kun Hak, vice-chairman and director of the Education Department of the Central Standing Committee of Chongryon, Yun Thae Gil, chairman of the Central Standing Committee of the Union of Korean Teachers in Japan, Ri Song Chol, chairman of the Central Standing Council of the Union of Korean Educational Association in Japan, Han Tong Song, rector of Korean University, members of the Union of Korean Teachers in Japan, officials of the Union of Korean Education Association in Japan in the Kanto area, officials of bodies at all levels of Chongryon and Korean compatriots, student delegates of Korean University, and members of the Mothers' Society and the Fathers' Society.

Song Kun Hak read out a solidarity address from the Committee for Aiding Overseas Compatriots of the DPRK.

The reporter referred to the brilliant victory of the April 24 education struggle and its historic significance.

Saying that the Japanese authorities remain unchanged in their colonialist nature and the present situation of the right to national education reminds people of that of 75 years ago, he called for defending the inviolable right to national education at all costs.

An appeal to all officials of Chongryon and Koreans in Japan was read out at the meeting.

Before the meeting, the participants watched a recorded program "National education defended through struggle", sent by the Joguk Company

That day, an exhibition showcasing historic data in commemoration of the 75th anniversary of the April 24 education struggle was held.

Meanwhile, the Central Standing Committee of Chongryon reorganized the Chongryon central committee for promoting the struggle for defending rights to education and decided to form the Chongryon headquarters committees for promoting the struggle for defending rights to education at prefectural headquarters in order to make a breakthrough in the struggle for defending rights and interests with the struggle to defending the right to national education as the first sound of gunfire.

On April 21, a Friday action to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the April 24 education struggle was held in front of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of Japan.

Attending it were officials of Chongryon and Koreans in the Kanto area, those related with Korean schools and members of the Liaison Society for Protecting Korean Kindergartens, parents of students of Korean schools, students of Korean University and Korean high schools and members of the solidarity organizations of Japan.

Also present were Nam Sung U, vice-chairman of the Central Standing Committee of Chongryon, Song Kun Hak, vice-chairman and director of the Education Department of the Central Standing Committee of Chongryon, So Chung On, vice-chairman and director of the Department for International Affairs and Reunification of the Central Standing Committee of Chongryon who are members of the Chongryon central committee for promoting the struggle for defending rights to education, and members of the Secretariat of the Chongryon Central Standing Committee.

At the Friday action Koreans in Japan made speeches to denounce the Japanese authorities for discriminating Korean schools, and Japanese figures made solidarity addresses.
