The team has won 20-odd cups and more than 700 medals including over 260 gold medals in domestic and international games for the past decade.

The team, founded on April 29, Juche 102 (2013), made a big stride forward from its start under the care of the Party.

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un watched games of its men's football players on July 31, 2013 and April 13, 2015, though he was very busy taking care of the overall affairs of the Party and the state.
