The symposium was held on the theme of "River management and landscape creation". Kim Nam Hyok, department director of the Ministry of Land and Environment Protection, Kim Chol Jun, dean of Pyongyang University of Architecture, made speeches.

The speakers analyzed and reviewed the successes, experience and shortcomings from the river management and landscape creation in the past.

They noted that President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il made a new history of river construction and provided important guidelines and solid foundation for dynamically conducting the work.

They noted that the respected General Secretary Kim Jong Un clearly indicated the orientation and ways for all cities and counties to push ahead with land management so as to make their areas unfazed by and safe from any natural disasters and properly map out the strategy for sustained river improvement.

The symposium showed video on the anti-landslide project, river improvement, preventing damage in the rainy season, afforestation and water conservation.
