At the symposium held under the theme of "Juche-oriented architecture centered on the masses" speeches were made by Kang Kwon Il, general director of the State General Bureau of Design, Kim Yong Jin, president of the Paektusan Institute of Architecture, Kim Chol Ung, vice-director of the Pyongyang City Designing Institute, Pang Chun Hwa, director of the Bureau of Construction Design of the Pyongyang City People's Committee, Hwang Yong Gil, vice-general director of the State General Bureau of Design, and Nam Hyong Sik, director of the Rason City Designing Institute.

The speakers explained the successes and experience gained in major construction projects by dint of science and technology under the uplifted banner of self-reliance and self-development under the guidance of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un who is ushering in a great heyday of construction on the land of the country. They referred to the theoretical and practical issues for officials and designers in the field of construction arising in thoroughly applying the Party's idea on the Juche-based architectural aesthetics.
